Die Leistung macht den Unterschied
Die 1947 gegründete britische Automobilfirma TVR wurde vor allem durch ihre Sportwagen bekannt.
Ein Highlight von TVR war der in der zweiten Hälfte der 1970er Jahre entstandene Typ namens Tasmin. Diese ungewöhnliche Namensfindung resultierte aus der Vermischung des weiblichen Namens Tamsin und der von 1964 bis 1975 abgehaltenen australisch-neuseeländischen Rennserie namens Tasman-Serie zu dem neuen Kunstwort Tasmin. Doch nicht nur der Verkaufsname war außergewöhnlich, für TVR-Verhältnisse bekam der neue, ab 1980 erhältliche, Sportwagen sogar eine fast revolutionäre Karosserie. Waren die Autos aus Blackpool bis dahin von einem rundlichen Outfit geprägt, so wurde der neue Wagen mit einem sehr kantigen Kunststoffkleid versehen. Der Grund hierfür lag einzig darin, dass als Designer für den Wagen der Brite Oliver Winterbottom engagiert wurde, der von Lotus-Sportcars zu TVR wechselte. Wie schon bei seinen Entwürfen für Lotus, setzte er auch im TVR Tasmin seine Vorliebe für nahtlos integrierte Klappscheinwerfer um. Während der Rahmen und die Karosserie im eigenen Werk entstanden, kamen die Antriebskomponenten überwiegend aus dem Ford-Werk. Dabei gingen die Techniker bei TVR sehr unkonventionell vor und nahmen, was passte. Das Schaltgetriebe und die Lenkung dienten ursprünglich im Ford Cortina, das Differential und die hinteren Scheibenbremsen waren einstmals für den Jaguar XJ-S bestimmt gewesen und die an den Vorderrädern montierten Scheiben verzögerten serienmäßig im Ford Granada. Das Herz des Sportwagens kam in zwei Alternativen ebenfalls von Ford: Zum einen der 2,8 Liter große, 162 PS starke V-6 Motor aus dem Kölner Werk und zum zweiten der 4-Zylinder Reihenmotor mit 101 PS aus einem Hubraum von 2,0 Litern. Das Kürzel 280i stand für den starken V 6 Motor und die Zahl 200 für den 4-Zylindermotor.
Ab 1981 bis zur Einstellung des Typs Tasmin im Jahr 1984 wurden nur 16 Coupés und 45 Cabrios von der 4-Zylinder Version hergestellt, während es die 6-Zylinder Variante von 1980 bis 1984 zu einer Stückzahl von 980 Modelle brachte, wovon 118 Coupés und 862 Cabriolets waren.

The British automobile manufacturer TVR – founded in 1947 – became famous especially for its sports cars.
A highlight of TVR was the type Tasmin, which was created in the second half of the 1970s. The name Tasmin resulted from the mixture of the girls name Tamsin and the name of the Australian/ New Zealand race series Tasman-Series, which took place from 1964 to 1975. Available from 1980, the new sports car was fitted with a revolutionary car body. Whereas roundish shapes usually characterized the cars made in Blackpool, the TVR Tasmin was furnished with an edged plastic car body. Responsible for the change in design was the Briton Oliver Winterbottom – a former designer of Lotus-Sportscars, who recently joined TVR. As he did it for Lotus, Winterbottom fitted the sports car with baked in pop-up headlamps. Whereas the car body was made in-house, the drive components were manly obtained from Ford. The engineers of TVR proceeded quite unconventional and used everything suitable they could find. They mounted the manual gearbox of a Ford Cortina, the differential and the rear anti-lock disk brakes of a Jaguar XJ-S and the built-in front anti-lock disk brakes usually did their job in a Ford Granada. The Tasmin was offered with two different engines - both made by Ford in Cologne - a 2,8 liter V6 engine with 162 HP and a 4-cylinder straight engine with 101 HP produced by 2,0 liter capacity. The designation 280i marked the strong V6 engine and the 4-cylinder engine was tagged with the number 200.
From 1981 until end of production of the type Tasmin in 1984 only 16 coupes and 45 convertibles of the 4-cylinder version were manufactured, whereas the 6-cylinder version reached a number of totaled 980 cars (118 coupes and 862 convertibles).

Il Marchio Automobilstico Britannico TVR, fondato nel 1947 divenne famoso specialmente per le sue vetture sportive.
Una delle vetture salienti della TVR fu la Tipo Tasmin, che fu ideata durante la seconda parte degli anni 70: il nome Tasmin è una parola Macedonia composta dall’Antroponomio Femminile Tamsin e il nome dellla serie di gare che si svolgevano tra l’Australia ed la Nuova Zelanda: la Tasman-Series; che fu proposta dal 1964 fino al 1975. Lanciata sul mercato a partire dal 1980, la nuova vettura sportiva era dotata di un corpo vettura rivoluzionario: se le forme arrotondate avevano caratterizzato le vetture della casa di Blackpool, la Tasmin era fornita una carrozzeria spigolosa realizzata in plastica; il responsabile di questo cambiamento di design fu il Britannico Oliver Winterbottom, un designer che aveva avuto precedentemente esperienze come designer alla Lotus; a quel tempo era stato recentemente assunto alla TVR.
Come fece per la Lotus, Winterbottom Dotò la sportiva con dei fari a scomparsa; se il corpo vettura era stato realizzato in casa dalla TVR, le component meccaniche invece erano la maggior parte di derivazione Ford; gli Ingenieri della TVR procedettero in maniera incovenzionale e usarono tutte le componenti che potevano esser utili alla creazione; montarono la trasmissione manuale della Ford Cortina, il differenziale ed I freni a disco antibloccaggio posteriori erano della Jaguar XJ-S, mentre quelli Anteriori solititamente facevano il loro lavoro sulle Ford Granada. La Tasmin fu offerta con due motorizzazioni differenti; entrambi realizzati dalla Ford di Colonia; un motore 2,8 V6 da 162 CV ed un Quattro Cilindri in Linea con 101 CV con una coppia di 2000cc; la sigla della V6 fu indicata con il nome 280i, mentre il Quattro cilindri era identificata con la sigla 200.
Dal 1981 fino alla fine della produzione della Tasmin, nel 1984 furono prodotte soltanto 16 Coupé e 45 Convertibli della versione a Quattro clindri, mentre la Versione V6 raggiunse la cifra totale di 980 esemplari (118 Coupé e 862 Convertibili).
